Welcome to The National Bloodhound Training Institute

501(c)(3) Non Profit Organization

The National Bloodhound Training Institute was founded in 1999 by Robin Monroe. The goal of NBTI is to promote the use of mantrailing Bloodhounds and other qualified K-9's by providing quality instruction to law enforcement agencies and volunteer search and rescue personnel. By educating dog handlers to recognize and interpret the dog's movements of purpose, known as "Negative Indications", first identified by Kevin Kocher in the early 90's. This method, of understanding the information given by the K-9, increases the handler’s success rate when attempting to locate a victim. We teach proven methods that help handler's in all aspects of training a trailing or tracking K-9.

The Institute offers classroom instruction in areas such as, K-9 case law, to insure criminals are not released on technicalities and we offer information how to build a team and work with your local law enforcement for volunteer organizations.

A very important part of our mission is to educate the public on how their community benefits from the use of mantrailing K-9’s in finding lost children, Alzheimer patients, and to deter, capture and prosecute criminals.
